Warren
Roman
December 21, 1948 – May 18, 2026
Warren M. Roman, a pharmaceutical packaging pioneer who helped bring advanced European manufacturing technology to American medicine, died peacefully on May 18, 2026, at The Greenwood House in Ewing, New Jersey. He lived in Bucks County for more than 40 years. He was 77 and had lived for seven years with Lewy Body Dementia. Through every stage of his illness, Warren never lost the wry smile and quick wit that had defined him — small graces that continued to bring his family comfort and laughter to the end.
A Philadelphia native, Mr. Roman graduated from Central High School and went on to earn his bachelor's degree and a master's in engineering at Temple University, followed by an MBA from La Salle University. He began his career at Vicks and rose through the ranks at Rohrer and Smith Kline & French. With his business partner, Witold Woyda, he co-founded IMA North America and built it into the country's leading supplier of pharmaceutical packaging equipment — work that quietly improved the safety and reliability of medicines reaching patients nationwide.
His life outside the office moved in chapters. In his younger years he loved speed: fast cars, motorcycles, weekends on a pit crew, and lacrosse — a sport he played until a serious ankle injury in a game sent him into one of the first reconstructive ankle surgeries performed in the country. In later years, his passions grew quieter but no less devoted. He became a founding member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, developed a connoisseur's eye for antiques and simple machines, and filled his home with beautifully made things. For decades he was a familiar figure on long bicycle rides — first with his original crew, later on his own, often covering dozens of miles in an afternoon.
Above all, Warren cherished his family. He and his beloved wife, Arlene, shared a lifetime of love and adventure. They traveled widely in the early years of their marriage, paused those journeys to raise their children, and resumed exploring exotic destinations in retirement, in the company of their dearest friends Shelley and Len Rubin. He made many meaningful visits to Israel, where he treasured long, unhurried time with his son, Gregg, his wife, Anat, and their grandchildren, and he took equal joy in the close family life he and Arlene built with their daughter, Stacey, and son-in-law, Josh.
A man of deep Jewish faith, Warren was a devoted reader of Torah who chanted the maftir every Rosh Hashanah and knew the trope by heart. Following the example of his father, Ed, a contractor and World War II veteran, and his mother, Selma, who worked for many years as a social worker with the City of Philadelphia, at Congregation Emanuel, he and his young family began a decades long relationship with Ohev Shalom of Bucks County in Richboro. He left his children and grandchildren an enduring love of Judaism, the United States, and Israel.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ed and Selma Roman; his lifelong cherished friend, David Zanan; and his business partner and dear friend, Witold Woyda.Warren is survived by his wife of 43 years Arlene Roman; his daughter, Stacey Kulp, and her husband, Josh; his son, Gregg Roman, and his wife, Anat; his grandchildren, Ariel, Liam, Sivan, Sapir, and Ethan; and his sister, Sheila Roman, and her husband, John Mueller.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 21, at 1:30 PM, at Goldstein's Rosenberg's Funeral Directors – Suburban North, 310 Second Street Pike, Southampton, PA, followed by interment at Montefiore Cemetery, 600 Church Road, Jenkintown, PA.
