RODMAN, MD
THEODORE on July 11, 2016. Dr. Rodman was a brilliant medical educator and devoted husband and father. Ted was born in Atlantic City where he attended Atlantic City High, then Dickinson College and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He was a pioneer in early research in lung diseases leading teams at the Penn service at the Philadelphia VA Hospital and later at Temple University where he established one of the first respiratory intensive care units and retired as a distinguished Professor of Medicine. He authored many scientific papers and several textbooks for physicians as well as critical care nurses. Teaching dominated his life. He is fondly remembered by his students for his regular Sunday morning medical lectures with brunch at his home on St. Georges Road in North Ardmore.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth Rodman, sons David Rodman M.D. of Niwot Colorado, Mitchell Rodman M.D. of Philadelphia and Kevin Rodman of Westport CT as well as his brother Morton Rodman. In addition he leaves nine grandchildren, Gary, Matthew, Jamie, Heather, Driscoll, Henry, Gabrielle, Elizabeth, Stephanie and one great grandchild, Maren.
Burial will be in Atlantic City on Tuesday. All are welcome to attend a Memorial Service at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday at Main Line Reform Temple, 410 Mont-gomery Ave. in Wynnewood.
