Thelma Lightstone

Beloved wife of the late Bernard. Married 67 years. Loving mother of Robin Staats (Joseph Murphy), Howard Lightstone (Meryl Lightstone), grandmother of Drew (Step), Alison (Peter), Meredith and Rachel.  Great-grandmother to “Sweet pea” Hannah.  Thelma was born in Philadelphia in 1932, grew up in South Philadelphia, and attended South Philadelphia High School for girls.  She spent 25 happy years in Boynton Beach, Florida with her beloved Bernard.  She was meticulous and elegant and put her skills to use at Fleet’s Men’s Store and the Jewish Federation of Philadelphia.   Thelma spent the last 4 + years of her life at Paul’s Run Retirement Center enjoying choir, Jewish services, making friends, building community and, most importantly, bi-weekly bingo games.   The family is forever grateful for the loving care she received at Paul’s Run.  Graveside services were held on Friday, February 9, 2024 and were private. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
