Sylvia Kramer Angert passed away peacefully in her sleep during the early morning hours of June 9. She lived 93 (and a half!) years and was the undisputed and much-honored matriarch of both the Angert and Kramer families. Sylvia was the glue that bonded extended family around the country and the world. She was loved from near to far and was an exceptional correspondent, always truly concerned about the wellbeing of her friends and family.
With the love of her life, Milton, Sylvia raised three beautiful children: Larry, dc’d (Marlene Angert), Phyllis (Michael Chauveau,) and Michael (Kathy Angert,) who cared for her constantly during her recent hospitalization. Her seven grandchildren knew Sylvia as MomMom. Each one was loved beyond words by MomMom, and shared meaningful time with her throughout their lives, and over the course of her final days. These are Hannah Angert (Kevin), Lyndsay Lev (Jonathan), Samantha Chauveau, Joshua Angert (Mallory), Daniel Chauveau (Danielle), Trevor Angert, and Evan Angert. Sylvia was also tickled to be an active great-grandmother to Mira Lev, Susanna Lev, and Levi Angert.
Sylvia was the second of Eleanor and Jacob Kramer’s children, and was predeceased by her beloved sister Edith. As a child of immigrants, Sylvia developed a deep sense of patriotism for the US and a love of democracy. Sylvia was also devoted to the Jewish community and Israel, and always had a JNF tzedakah box ready to fill with coins. Beth Emeth Congregation in NE Philadelphia was a second home for Sylvia and Milton, a place where they and their children enjoyed a tight-knit social, educational, and cultural community filled with friends and her most important life cycle events.
Hers was a loving, full, and active life; with her beaming smile and genuine compassion for all, she will be missed beyond measure.
