Obituary

It is with deep respect and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Susan Palman, née Koller, who departed this life on April 9, 2026, in Holland, Pennsylvania. Born on February 5, 1959, in Philadelphia, PA, Sue lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and an unwavering love for her family and community.

Sue and her husband Rick met in 1974 in Northeast Philadelphia. They met in the old neighborhood and began dating.  They both attended Northeast High School where their love for each other continued.  They were married on September 15th, 1979 and began setting roots for their family.  They welcomed their first child Stefanie on June 15th, 1982 living in an apartment on Nandina Street.  They then moved to the far Northeast Somerton section of Philadelphia where they welcomed their second child, Scott, on June 16th, 1985.  They moved to their forever home in Holland, PA in 1990 .

Sue's commitment to nurturing young minds was evident through her longstanding career at Rainbow Academy. Her work there was not motivated by financial gain, but by a profound passion for children’s growth and development. Sue's dedication extended beyond the classroom; she maintained enduring relationships with parents and co-workers alike, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed her path.

Those who knew Sue would attest to her caring and selfless nature. She possessed one of the biggest hearts imaginable, always putting others ahead of herself and making each person she encountered feel uniquely valued and cherished. Her presence was a beacon of kindness and empathy, qualities that defined her both personally and professionally.

A lover of life’s simple pleasures, Sue found joy in reading, playing crossword puzzles, and was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. She cherished attending events featuring her grandchildren—Madison Kontz, Ryan Palman, and Jack Palman—who were the center of her world. She loved her shore trips to Ocean City, NJ.  She loved shopping, but mostly to buy things for her grandchildren just so she could see them smile.

Sue is lovingly remembered by her husband Rick Palman; her children, Stefanie Palman Miller, and Scott Palman ; her daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Brittany Palman and Mase Miller; her beloved grandchildren Madison, Ryan, and Jack; and her mother, Lillian Dechter. She will also be forever cherished by her brothers Michael DelRossi, Daniel Koller and his wife Jessica, Steven Koller and his wife Shanna Gumaer, Mark Koller and his wife Natalie, and her brother-in-law Jeff Palman and his wife Merle, and her Aunt Charlene Koller. Sue’s loving family circle extends to nine nieces and nephews.

We also honor the memory of those who preceded Sue in death: her father Irwin Koller, mother-in-law Lynn Palman, father-in-law William Palman, as well as Stepfathers Peter DelRossi and Murray Dechter.

The community and all who knew Susan Palman mourn her loss deeply. She leaves behind a legacy of generosity, dedication, and steadfast love that will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate to know her.
