Susan Berkowitz (nee Cler), 72 of Holland, PA passed away with her family by her side, on September 11th, 2018 at 12:31 am, after a long and courageous battle against breast cancer. Beloved wife of 54 years to Bruce Berkowitz. Devoted mother to Kimberly Hulbert (Jonathan), of Mason, Ohio, and Debra Margolis (David) of Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Loving grandmother of Riley Hulbert, Katie Hulbert, Emma Hulbert, Addy Hulbert, Sophia Margolis and Isabella Margolis. Dear sister-in-law to Karol and Gary Seidenberg, Susan and Harvey Berkowitz, Robert Berkowitz and Harriet and Lawrence Ginsburg. Cherished Aunt to 7 loved nieces and nephews, and dear friend to countless other incredible people. Susan left her mark on this world by living each day to its fullest and fighting for every day no matter the challenge. If you were blessed to know her, you were amazed by her loving and giving spirit and fierce loyalty. She adored her family as they were the center of her universe, and her closest friends she considered to be her family as well. Her loss will leave a void in the hearts of all who were privileged enough to know and love her. Susan was a 1964 graduate of Northeast High School in Philadelphia. She spent the last 25 years of her life working in commercial banking. Most recently she participated in a clinical trial as patient zero at the Fox Chase Cancer Center, investigating the use of immune therapies in a search for a cure for Metastatic Breast Cancer. Her feeling was if it didn't save her life, it was a small price to pay if in the end it saved the life of another. Family and friends are invited to Memorial Services at Goldsteins' Rosenberg's Raphael-Sacks Suburban North, 310 2nd Street Pike, Southampton, on Thursday, September 13th at 4 PM. Shiva will be observed at the residence of Bruce Berkowitz, immediately following the service, and on Friday, September 14 from noon until Sunset. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Fox Chase Cancer Center, Office of Institutional Advancement, 333 Cottman Ave., Phila., Pa., 19111, in support of the research being done by Elias Obeid, MD, and his search for a cure.
