STEWART MEYER
Age 87 of Warminster, Pa, beloved son, father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle, great uncle, great great uncle and friend died on April 19, 2018. Stew was surrounded by family and close friends during his last days at Abington Hospital. Stewart was born on Oct. 11, 1930 in Phila. to Mollie and Isadore Gruber, and he grew up in North Phila. helping his family run Gruber's Candy Store on the corner of 8th and Norris. He graduated from Northeast High School in 1948 and Temple University in 1957, where he also met his future wife, Claire. Stew served proudly in the U.S. Airforce from 1950-1951.
He had a distinguished career with the Internal Revenue Service where he worked as a revenue agent and special agent from 1957-1982. As a special agent he held the position of IRS Representative to the Dept. of Justice Strike Force on Organized Crime and was the Asst. Chief, Criminal Investigations Division. He also worked for the Commonweath of PA from 1982-1991 as Director, Office of Criminal Tax Investigation for the Dept. of Revenue and Director, Office of Special Investigation for the Auditor General.
Stew cherished many long lasting friendships throughout his life in Philadelphia. Stew is survived by his loving wife Claire (nee Kern) of 58 years, loving brother Irvin, daughter Ilene Rothblat (David), son Steven (Bonnie) and cherished grandchildren Michael, Molly, Justin and Sarah as well as many dear friends and family members. Stew was preceded in death by his beloved son Howard, mother Mollie, father Isadore and brother Sol.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, 11:15 A.M. precisely,
