Steven J. Sidewater January 6, 1944 - September 4, 2023. He was the husband of Judy Munroe Sidewater, father of Wendy Sidewater (Clifford Steiner) and Peter Sidewater, brother of Samuel Sidewater, son of the late Morris and Evelyn Sidewater, grandfather of Hallie, Benjamin, Sadie and Ava Steiner, cousin of Herbert Vederman.
After attending Temple University in the early 60’s, Steve joined Charming Shoppes Inc., a family operated retail organization, founded by his father Morris and his uncle Arthur. Steve worked his way up the corporate ladder to become president and chief operating officer. After retiring from Charming Shoppes, Steve became involved in numerous business and charitable enterprises. In 1992 he was instrumental in establishing Rodman Properties, a real estate company that manages and develops residential apartment communities nationwide. He also started a venture company and served as its chairman. He was an original investor in and principal of David’s Bridal and was involved in the establishment of Tri Arc Agency, a reinsurance company. He also served on many boards, including David’s Bridal, Mr. Goodbuys, the Jewish Federation and the Abramson Geriatric Home for the Aged.
Along with his brother Sam, Steve was the co- principal of the Sidewater Group, a private investment management company based in Wynnewood, PA. Among his many responsibilities in that role was to direct the investments of the Sidewater Family Foundation, a charitable foundation founded by his father.
Graveside Services are private. Relatives and friends are invited to the Memorial Service Thursday, September 7th at 12:00pm at Main Line Reform Temple-Beth Elohim, 410 Montgomery Ave., Wynnewood, PA 19096. Shiva will be observed following services at the Temple. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Abramson Cancer Center, 3400 Civic Center Blvd., West Pavilion, 2nd Floor, Phila., PA 19104.
