STEVEN, of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 20, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Otto and Harriet Matzner.
Steven was the beloved husband of Ellen (Markow) Matzner, his high school sweetheart, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage before her passing. He was a devoted father to Jennifer Sherwood, Jeffrey Matzner (Megan), and Jason Matzner (Julie), and a proud grandfather to Nicole, William, Emma, and Ellie.
Steven built a successful career in the carpet industry, founding his own company in King of Prussia with his partner, Herb Levick, and later continuing that partnership with Herb’s son, Stuart Levick. He was a passionate Philadelphia sports fan, holding Philadelphia Eagles season tickets since 1963 and cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies throughout his life.
He cherished summers in Brigantine, New Jersey, loved traveling and cruising, and especially enjoyed entertaining family and friends with backyard barbecues by the pool. A founding family member of Temple Brith Achim, he valued community and lifelong friendships, including his beloved Mahjong group.
Above all, Steven will be remembered for his love of family, his warmth, and his unwavering devotion to those closest to him. His memory will forever be a blessing to his family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to Funeral Services, Monday, 11:00 AM precisely, at Temple Brith Achim, 481 S. Gulph Rd., King of Prussia, PA 19406. Interment to follow at Haym Salomon Memorial Park. Shiva will be observed on Monday and Tuesday at the home of Julie and Jason Matzner.
