Stephen P. Weiss, 80, passed away on Friday, July 17 surrounded by his loving family.

Steve is survived by his devoted wife of 55+ years, Ilene (Sykes) Weiss, his adored children, Brian (Aimee) Weiss, Lauren (David) Aviram and Jill Weiss. And his precious grandchildren (to whom he was the beloved, irreplaceable "Pops"), Sawyer and Hardy Weiss, and Gabrielle, Alexander and Julian Aviram.

He was preceded in death by his parents Emanuel and Ceil (Mand) Weiss and brother William (Sandy) Weiss. He is survived by a brother Jerome (Andrea) Weiss.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, Steve was raised in Bradley Beach and attended Asbury Park High School.

He earned his B.S. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and an LL.M. in Taxation from NYU Law School. Steve joined the law firm Fox Rothschild LLP in 1972, specializing in tax law, and became a partner in 1979.

His practice covered federal income tax, corporate and shareholder taxation, partnership and individual taxation, tax-exempt organizations, and non-qualified deferred compensation. Steve also served on the Executive Committee, chaired the Finance Committee, and co-chaired the Tax and Estates Department. He retired in 2017 after 45 years at the firm.

Steve's commitment to service extended well beyond the practice of law. He was especially dedicated to causes that benefit children, serving on the Board of Trustees of the Innovating Worthy Projects Foundation, an organization devoted to charitable and educational programs benefiting children, and giving his time as a lay member of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Facial Reconstruction Center. 

That’s the resume…but Pops was so much more.

He was a lifelong New York Yankees fan (he adored Mickey Mantle) and continued to play doubleheader softball every Sunday.

He was a Wordle enthusiast... Jeopardy aficionado...

Brilliant, curious, funny, loyal – did we say BRILLIANT?

And above all else, Steve was a devoted husband, father and grandfather (known as the world's best ice cream sundae maker and late night ghost storyteller).

His greatest joy in life was his treasured family. He raised them to take big swings and try new things. He watched them succeed. And helped them overcome adversity.

And he made sure they had anything and everything they ever needed.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Friday, July 24 at 11:30 AM, Goldsteins’ Rosenberg’s Suburban North, 310 2nd Street Pike, Southampton, PA 18966. The memorial service can also be viewed at the link here. Interment will be private.
