Sidney M Grobman, DO JD aged 92 of Philadelphia, PA has passed away on Aug 16, 2026.
It is with great sadness but immense pride that we celebrate his life. Born on 7-31-34 in Philadelphia, PA, Dr Grobman was the son of Solomon and Lottie Grobman, also of Philadelphia, PA. Dr Grobman attended South Philadelphia High School in Philadelphia and was honored as an Outstanding Person Alumnus. He earned his B.S from Penn State University before graduating with a degree in Osteopathic Medicine from the Des Moines University of Osteopathic Medicine & Health Sciences in 1961. He later served as President of the Osteopathic School Alumni Association. He completed his Internship in Allentown, PA and went on to develop a very successful career in General Practice, first in Pedricktown, NJ and later in Pennsville NJ where he mentored hundreds of Osteopathic students. He was a Chief Medical Officer for the Hammonton, NJ Health Clinic. Later, Dr Grobman graduated with his J.D from Temple Law School and practiced Malpractice Law for Anapol, Schwartz and Weiss.
He worked in a bicycle shop as a young adult. Later, as a student in Des Moines, he worked in a restaurant as a bartender, waiter and manager. This led to him buying Travaglini’s Restaurant in Deepwater, NJ, a few miles from his final medical practice. He and his wife owned Travaglini’s for 19 years.
He supported his wife Elaine in her work for the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research; he was an endeared board member of the Philadelphia Anti-Drug/Anti-Violence Network (P.A.A.N.) and Uplift Solutions as well as an advocate for many other philanthropic causes.
He was a member of and helped rebuild the Little Shul Synagogue, B’nai Abraham Chabad congregation and Congregation Mikveh Israel. He loved studying the Torah and led all our family Passover seders.
Sidney was kind, generous, compassionate, dedicated to his patients and his family. He played basketball for the Jewish League and tennis with his family. He participated in Track and Field while in college and he was a boxer. He loved being called Zeide.
Sidney Grobman is survived in life by his wife Elaine Grobman (nee Reinheimer), his son Marc D Grobman, DO and his wife Renee Grobman, and his daughter Leslie Tilles and her husband Peter Tilles; his grandchildren Amanda Tilles, Olivia Tilles, Alyson Grobman, Lauren Grobman and Jacob Grobman who were always in his thoughts. He is also survived by sister Roslyn Gorenberg and brother Gilbert Grobman. He was immensely proud of his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to Graveside Services, Thursday, 12 PM precisely at Mt. Sharon Cemetery (Sect. K), Springfield, PA. Following interment, all are invited to a luncheon at Drexel University Hillel. Shiva will be observed on Saturday evening August 22, 2026, at the home of Marc and Renee Grobman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name, to the Drexel University Hillel, 118 N 34th St Philadelphia, PA 19104.
