SHIRLEY (nee Silver), an extraordinary person, wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother, died on February 12, 2011 at the age of 86. Shirley was the wife of the late David Marcus. Beloved mother of Rosalie (Bob Winthrop), Sherrie (Carol Maritato) and the late Martin L. Marcus. Loving sister to Abe Silver (Barbara) and the late Herman (Bertha) Silver. She was a loving and adored Bubby to Becky Sloviter Smith (Matt) and M. Ryan Marcus and the overjoyed Great-Bubby to Jacob Zachary Smith. Known for her stellar personality, humor and wit, she made everyone feel good with whom she came in contact. Born and raised in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood of Philadelphia, Shirley was the daughter of the late Frank and Becky Silver. She remained close to her childhood friends the rest of her life. She is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. A lifetime member of Hadassah, she was a former board member of the Golda Meir chapter in Atlantic City. She was very interested in politics and current events and a liberal thinker in thought and practice. In her professional life she was the office administrator in the Larry Snyder Real Estate Firm.
