Shirley Don

Shirley Don passed away peacefully at her home on October 13, 2023. Shirley was born, Surah Mermelstein, in the small village of Klechanova, Czechoslavakia on January 16, 1929.  She was the daughter of Ruchel and Yechiel Daveed Mermelstein.

She was one of eight children.

She was a Survivor of Auschwitz.  She met her beloved husband Samuel Don (predeceased) in a Displaced Persons Camp in Germany and the two were married in 1949, a few months after arriving in Philadelphia. They created a home full of love, laughter, and joy. She adored her children and grandchildren with a fierce love. She is predeceased by her beloved son Dr. Sidney Don

Survived by daughters Ruth Shevlin, Rene Boni (Dennis Boni), 

Roslyn Don (Arthur Kiron), daughter-in-law, Paula Don: and grandchildren Amy Shevlin, Erica Boni, Daniel Boni, Sophie Don, and Samara Shevlin. 

Funeral Services on Monday October 16, promptly at 1:30 pm 

Goldstein’s Rosenberg’s Raphael Sacks Suburban North, 

310 2nd Street Pike, Southampton, PA 18966. 

Interment Shalom Memorial Park.
