It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Shelly Forman, who departed this life peacefully on December 20 at the age of 90.
Shelly was a devoted husband to Phyllis (Gordon), a loving father to Donna Balaban (Mitchell), Andrea Azoff (Alan) and Wendy Abrams (Andrew) and a cherished grandfather to Jamie Kaufman (Ben), Ricky Balaban (Ashley), Corey Balaban (Julie), Lauren Gershenbaum (Scott), Josh Azoff (Kim), Erica Abrams and Jennifer Abrams. He was also blessed to have 6 great grandchildren. He was not only a pillar of strength for his family but also a loyal friend to many including his past employees.
Born on December 13, 1934, Shelly dedicated his life first and foremost to his family, his career as a pharmacist and his faith. His kindness, wisdom, and generosity left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. A proud Eagle Scout, Shelly graduated from Temple University School of Pharmacy in 1952 and immediately embarked on a career as an independent pharmacist growing his business to include 9 locations until it was sold to Rite Aid in 2005. He continued working at his long-term care pharmacy until its sale in 2016 and his mail order pharmacy until his health would no longer permit him to work at the age of 88. During his long and illustrious career he primarily cared about his customers and his employees, many of whom he has been in contact with until his passing.
Shelly was a man deeply devoted to his faith and the principles of Judaism. His unwavering commitment to his religious beliefs was evident in every aspect of his life including years of charity work for Variety Club and other causes. He will be remembered for his steadfast devotion, his compassionate spirit, and the light he brought into the lives of those around him.
Shelly had a remarkable ability to bring joy and warmth into any room. His glowing persona was contagious, and his advice, always thoughtful and wise. He lived life with integrity, compassion, and a profound love for his family and friends.
As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the beautiful life he lived and the countless memories he leaves behind. Though he may no longer be with us, his spirit and legacy will continue to live on in our hearts.
A celebration of Shelly Forman's life will be held on Sunday, December 22 at 11 AM at Goldsteins' Rosenberg’s Funeral Directors Suburban North, 310 2nd Street Pike, Southampton, PA 18966.
