Sheila Luterman (nee Sheppard) on November 25, 2024. It is with great love and sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Sheila Luterman, 83. Beloved wife of the late Howard; Adoring mother of Laynie and Michael; Proud mom-mom of Alexa, Carly, Jesse and Jake; Sister to Ed Sheppard and late brother Barry; survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Sheila was born and raised in Mount Airy, Philadelphia to parents Jeanne and Harry, then raised our family in 2nd & Cheltenham and Wyncote, PA and enjoyed winters in her happy place in Aventura, FL. Sheila’s greatest joy came from being with her family surrounded by love and laughter. She made each family gathering feel special and was a constant source of wisdom, warmth, and generosity. Sheila had a heart full of kindness, and her gentle, caring nature touched the lives of everyone she met. She had a beautiful way of making people feel seen, heard, and loved. Her home was always open to friends and family, and her kitchen, filled with the scent of her delicious cooking, was where our family memories were made, and stories and an abundance of laughter were shared.
In addition to being a dedicated mother and mom-mom, Sheila especially enjoyed antiquing, traveling and collecting with her beloved Howard, who was her partner in life and love for over 50 years, entertaining, decorating, knitting, bowling, tennis and volunteering 20+ years at Keneseth Israel synagogue, running the kitchen for the annual antique extravaganza shows. She was a woman who had a great sense of style and found extreme joy in being dog mom to her two beloved Schnauzers, Baron & Kris.
Services and Interment are private. The family requests contributions in her memory be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation or to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the foundation of your choice.
Sheila’s kindness, warm smile, and joyful spirit were a light in the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the joy and love she brought to our family and into this world. When you see a ladybug please think of her. XOXO
