Sharon (Sid) Burwell, Bracha Sora bat Basha v'Hayim, who passed away on September 1st after a long and challenging illness.
Sid loved people and was much loved by all of you in return. She was a mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend. She was a smart and pioneering businesswoman who put family first, allowing others to also do so. She created a temporary paralegal service in Philadelphia, LegalAssist, serving law firms and local businesses, creating jobs for women with flexible hours and part time options with benefits. She was once awarded the Veuve Clicquot Philadelphia Businesswoman of the Year. After selling the business and moving to the west coast, she became the Executive Director of her synagogue, Beth Ami, in Santa Rosa, California, where she served for many years. She was referred to as "a treasure" by a congregant. She is survived by her son, Jordan Blum (Ashley) and her daughter, Ilana Blum, and her two grandsons, Eli and Dylan, her sisters Jan Crean and Meryl Crean and her mother Bernice (Dee) Crean.
