Scott Leslie
Barmat
Mar 29, 1954 — Jun 22, 2026
Roosevelt Memorial Park
Starts at 12:00 pm (Eastern time)
Scott Leslie Barmat, 72, of Horsham, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on March 29, 1954, and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Scott lived a life defined by intelligence, laughter, generosity, and a deep love for family.
Scott was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wendy Barmat, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and countless memories; his parents, David and Sandy Barmat; and many dear family members and friends.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Natasha (Nate) Hevener; his son, Brandon (Megan) Barmat; and his cherished grandchildren, Blake, Jordyn, Noah, and Oliver, all of whom brought him immeasurable pride and joy.
A lifelong learner, Scott graduated from La Salle College with a bachelor's degree before earning his master's degree from Temple University. He devoted his professional career to the field of virology, where his work contributed to the testing and development of multiple life-saving vaccines. Through his work, Scott helped improve and protect the lives of countless people around the world, leaving behind a legacy far greater than he ever sought recognition for.
Outside of work, Scott embraced life and found joy in the simple things. An avid cyclist and lover of the outdoors, he spent many summer days tending to his beloved lawn before cooling off with a dip in the pool. The backyard that he and Wendy created together became the heart of so many family memories. The grill was always on, Motown classics played from the CD player, and the pool was always open. Family and friends knew they were always welcome.
Scott loved a good meal shared with family and friends and was often the loudest personality around the table, happily telling stories that everyone had heard countless times before—but loved hearing all the same. He never passed up a good sale and often joked about Wendy's shopping habits, only to discover that his own love of shopping might have surpassed hers.
He enjoyed trips to the beach, where he could relax with the people he loved most, and there were few things he appreciated more than ending the day with a good cigar, reflecting on life and enjoying the moment. Whether riding his bike, firing up the grill, finding the perfect bargain, or gathering with loved ones, Scott knew how to savor life's simple pleasures.
Above all else, Scott was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be remembered for his brilliant mind, his larger-than-life personality, his endless stories, and the warmth, laughter, and love he brought into every room he entered. Though deeply missed, his spirit lives on in every backyard barbecue, every Motown song, every beach sunset, every good bargain, and every story shared around the dinner table.
Family and friends are invited to graveside services at 12 PM precisely on Thursday, June 25, at Roosevelt Memorial Park, 2701 Old Lincoln Hwy, Trevose, PA 19053, Section P, where Scott will be laid to rest alongside the love of his life, Wendy, eternally reunited and forever together.
Shiva will be observed beginning Thursday afternoon through Friday evening at the beloved home Scott and Wendy built together, where family and friends are welcome to gather, share memories, and celebrate a life well lived.
