SANDY (nee Kaplan), 93, died in her home on June 19, 2014. Daughter of Tillie (nee Silverman) and Israel Kaplan. Loving wife, mother, beloved grandmother, sister, and aunt, and devoted friend to many. Sandy started her career as a radio actress and was a relentless and tireless patron of the arts. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Samuel Sugarman, and, following him, by her longtime companion, Dr. Harry Field. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Morty and Linda Kaplan; her children Stuart and O'Ann, Ken and Bonnie, and Joan and Guy; and her 5 grandchildren Tara, Samantha, Ariel, Adrienne, and Shawn. Her compassion, curiosity, and vibrancy will be dearly missed. Relatives and friends are invited to Funeral Services Sunday 1 PM precisely GOLDSTEINS' ROSENBERG'S RAPHAEL SACKS, 6410 N. Broad St. Int. Montefiore Cem. Shiva will be observed Sunday only at 3:30 PM in Social Room A at The Philadelphian. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in her name to The Barnes Foundation, Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Curtis Institute of Music, Susan G. Komen for The Cure, or to a charity of your choice.
