Ruth “Ruthie” Schulman (nee Entner) passed away on May 15, 2024 surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late Bernard “Bernie” Schulman. Loving mother of Rick Schulman and Michelle Schulman (Clifford Bolt), and the late Jeffrey Scott Schulman. Ruthie, lovingly known as Ruchel by her brothers, was the youngest of 5, Betty Jaffe (Eddie), Eddie Rosenberg (Shirley), Albert Rosenberg (May), Yetta Krause (Sammy). Born to Frank and Mollie Entner, she had thick dark hair and blue eyes that she got from her father. She grew up in a loving, humble, Jewish, and Yiddish speaking home in Strawberry Mansion, North Philly. To her and her sister, Betty, their brothers were heroes, already fighting in the war. Sister, Yetta, married and moved to CA. Ruthie enjoyed Yiddish school and lifelong friends from Strawberry Mansion. Then Bernie came into her life, with his big personality. They met at a party and that was all they needed. Bernie would ride the trolly from South Philly just to spend a few moments with her. They attended their first dance together and the rest was history. It had been love at first sight, and a love that would last a lifetime, almost 65 years. A secretary who did shorthand and bookkeeping would be an asset to the young entrepreneur, and she was. Ruthie was also caring, loving, considerate and strong. As a young couple they shared the loss of her father, Frank, and the loss of their only child by birth, Jeffrey. There was great renewing joy in the adoption of two babies, and Ruthie's strength is what held the family all together. Bernie worked and provided while Ruthie was a hands on mother and homemaker, and bookkeeper for his business. Following the death of her father, she began to take care of her mother, Mollie, and became known as the favorite aunt to her nieces and nephews. Bernie and Ruthie thrived and created a wonderful life together. She had a "yiddische nashoma" that pleaded with all to do the right thing. There was always synagogue and her huge charitable donations. She loved boating which her husband introduced her to, even though she couldn’t swim! Her favorite spot was Still Pond because she could walk and touch the bottom there. A move to suburbia brought greater family pleasures in hosting large family dinners. There was a Bar Mitzvah, Bat Mitzvah, Confirmation, all the years schlepping to Hebrew School, music lessons, sending the kids to college, supporting them through it all! She did it all without question. She never sat down. Never ate lunch in those days. She worked with an incredible constitution until everything was done. Following retirement, they lived in Bucks County with a new home that came with many events and parties that both enjoyed. She was always found completely put together, with a smile. Relatives and friends are invited to funeral services on Sunday, May 19 2024 at Goldsteins’ Rosenberg’s Funeral Directors Suburban North 310 Second Street Pike, Southampton PA 18966, at 1:30 PM. Interment to follow at Shalom Memorial Park. Shiva will follow at her late residence in Warwick Township, and will continue at the home, Monday, May 20 through Friday, May 24 after 5pm.
