Ross H. Kaplan

Ross Kaplan ended his earthly journey on December 20, 2023. Born July 28, 1955, in Philadelphia to Dorothy “Dottie” Kohn and Albert Kaplan, Ross and his sister, Celeen, were raised by his mother and stepfather, Mulford Kohn, in Cheltenham.

Ross graduated from Cheltenham High School and then went on to attend Penn State University and Hahnemann Memorial Institute of Health Sciences in Florida, earning his degree in naturopathic medicine. Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine were part of his training. He continued to study on a post-graduate basis, eventually obtaining licensure in acupuncture in Florida and Pennsylvania. Ross maintained active licensure for over 25 years and owned Montco Acupuncture in Lower Gwynedd, PA.

Ross had a lifelong passion for music. Playing multiple instruments, he studied privately and attended the Musicians Institute and Dick Grove School of Music in Los Angeles. Over the years, Ross wrote and produced music for radio and TV commercials, performed with bands, and worked as a recording engineer. As a proud member of SAG-AFTRA, he also acted in films and commercials.

Ross was committed to public service, having served as a member of the Cheltenham Township Auxiliary Police Department and the US Search and Rescue Task Force. In search and rescue, Ross held a specialist certification in Critical Incident Stress Management.  During the World Trade Center Disaster, Ross was among the first out-of-state responders to be called to serve.

Ross pursued his varied interests passionately his entire life. Innovative, forward-looking, tenacious, and supportive, he befriended everyone and always made time for the people in his life. Ross met his wife, Genevieve (nee Black), in 2008.
