ROCHELLE KATZ

Rochelle (Shelly/Shelby) Sandler Katz, age 82, of Philadelphia, died peacefully on August 14, 2021. She is the mother of Michael (Ina), Jeffrey, and the late Robin, and sister of Renei Sandler Goldberg. She is also survived and adored by her 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Throughout her childhood Shelly won many art awards. After graduation from Lincoln High School, she attended the Philadelphia Museum College of Art, but she found her true calling at the Northeast Philadelphia airport. She earned her pilots license and worked for Lincoln Flying Service, giving sightseeing tours and testing. Shelly was an active member of NINETY-NINES� INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF WOMEN PILOTS. In addition, she volunteered for and supported many animal rescue organizations and showed great compassion as she lovingly fostered numerous cats over the years. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at 2 PM precisely at Montefiore cemetery (sec. I), Jenkintown, PA. Donations may be made to the animal welfare organization of your choice.
