Robert Neil “Bobby” Weinberg

September 18, 1957 — November 21, 2025

Philadelphia, PA

Robert Neil “Bobby” Weinberg, a lifelong resident of Philadelphia, passed away on November 21, 2025, at Abington Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and devoted SPIN family. He was 68 years old.

Born on September 18, 1957, to Sid and Marcia Weinberg, Robert— “Bobby” to his many friends—attended the Delta School in Newtown, PA. From an early age, he was actively involved with SPIN (Special People in the Northeast) and PATH (People Acting To Help), participating enthusiastically in their many programs, including summer camps in the Poconos. His joy, spirit, and boundless energy quickly made him a standout within both organizations.

After graduating, Robert worked for many years with the United Cerebral Palsy Association (UCPA), including at the Tastykake factory on Wissahickon Avenue. His daily commute, which required three buses, became an extension of his warm and generous presence. One year, a SEPTA bus driver surprised Bobby with an onboard birthday celebration complete with cake and a bus full of passengers singing to him. That driver and his wife later became lifelong friends of the Weinberg family—an enduring example of the powerful impact Bobby had on everyone he encountered.

In 1999, Robert moved into an independent living home with close friends, where he thrived. In 2005, he began working at Associated Production Services on McNulty Road, a job he cherished. His colleagues there embraced him as family. The only time he willingly missed work was for his treasured annual vacations to Ocean City, a tradition he maintained for decades.

In 2024, Robert transitioned to a SPIN home on Colebrook Lane, a move made seamless by the loving support of his sisters and the SPIN team. He quickly formed a deep bond with his two roommates. Bobby enjoyed an active and fulfilling life, taking part in the SPIN Live Choir—where he expressed his great love of music—as well as sporting events, dinner cruises, holiday celebrations, and many other activities that brought him joy.

Robert is survived by his mother, Marcia Weinberg; his sisters, Cindy Pitts (Richard Pitts) and Mandy Weinberg (Pasquale Onofrio); his niece, Lindsey Pitts; and his nephews, Harrison Pizzi (Christina), Samuel Cluff (Britany Walker), and Andrew Cluff (Sydney Fritz).

A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 9:30 AM at Goldsteins’ Rosenberg’s Funeral Directors Suburban North, 310 2nd Street Pike, Southampton, PA 18966. The family will begin receiving at approximately 9:00 AM.

In gratitude for the lifelong companionship, support, and opportunity provided to Robert, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory be made to SPIN, 10501 Drummond Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19154, https://secure.qgiv.com/for/spininc.
