Robert Emile Cargni-Mitchell

Robert Emile Cargni-Mitchell, 69, of Philadelphia, PA passed away at home on May 9, 2023. Born Robert Cameron Mitchell on February 18, 1954, in Portland, OR to Charlotte Nitta Cargni Mitchell and Ralph Cameron Mitchell, he attended Ascension Catholic Grade School and Mt. Tabor Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1972. Robert attended Portland State University, University of Oregon and University of Pennsylvania. He married Elaine Petrov in 1987. A film projectionist and technical analyst for International House’s S.A. Ibrahim Theater, Robert retired as Associate Director of International House in 2020. He was also the Special Programs Curator for the America-Italy Society at Penn. In addition to his wife, Elaine, at home, Robert is survived by his siblings, John (Rebecca) of Eugene, OR, Richard (Nancy) of Bainbridge, Island, WA, Carla (Bob) of Welches, OR and Stephanie of Tigard, OR, and their children, Regina, Jory, Nicole, Sarah, Jessica, Jason and Brandon. He was preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Jacy. Celebrations of Robert’s life will be held this summer in Portland and Philadelphia.
