DR. RITA, a resident at Rydal Park, died suddenly on March 9, 2016. Born June 27, 1936, to Ethel and Al Sparrow, she had an older brother, Larry (deceased), and is survived by three adored nieces, loving family, and loyal friends who appreciated her intelligence, keen wit, sense of humor, and the ferocious bravery that enabled her to succeed and flourish in spite of living with osteogenesis imperfecta. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude from Brooklyn College, earned a Master's degree at NYU, and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in French Literature, and was a professor of French at LaSalle University. A Memorial Service will be held at Rydal Park on April 23, 2016, at 1:30 P.M.
