RICHARD WALLACE

Richard A. Wallace, Capt. US Air Force of Philadelphia, PA, passed from this life Dec. 2, 2020 at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in Philadelphia. Richard was born September 19, 1933 in Norwich, NY to his parents Clarissa A. and John Wallace. He grew up in Oxford, NY, graduating from Oxford Academy and Central School. He attended Delhi State College in the Culinary Arts program until his enlistment into the US Navy was granted. He spent most of his four year naval career on shipboard as a Corpsman caring for the medical needs on board. After being discharged, Richard attended Geneseo State College, Geneseo, NY where he received a nursing degree which led to his joining the US Air Force. In 1966 he was deployed to Viet Nam where he was a Field Marshall at a Mash Unit near the Cambodian border until he was captured by enemy forces. After his release from a POW camp, he was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany, and upon his discharge he spent the rest of his professional career in the VA system.

Richard moved to Philadelphia in 1983 where he met and married his beloved and devoted wife, Natalie Riff. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Marian Wallace Franklin, of Norwich, NY, sons Richard Wallace of Oneonta, NY, and Raymond (Laura) Wallace of Tucson, AZ, step-son Marc Riff, of Langhorne, PA, step-daughter Shelly (Jeffrey) Wasserman of Telford, PA, a sister, Marian Wallace Schneider of Friendship, NY and brother, Nelson T. (Seleste) Wallace of Poughkeepsie, NY. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Dustin Franklin, Samantha Wallace, Benjamin Wallace, Brandon (Rachael) Riff, Shelby (Benjamin) Lobitz, Shane Wasserman and Dustin Wasserman, and a great-grandson Leo; his brothers-in-law, Nathan Rosenstein and Daniel Rosenstein, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved brother, John F. Wallace.

Graveside Services will be held Friday, Dec. 11, 2:15 PM at Montefiore Cemetery, 600 Church Rd, Jenkintown PA 19046. Contributions in his memory may be made to Disabled American Veterans, www.DAV.org, or to Drizin-Weiss Post #215- Jewish War Veterans, 913 Tyson Ave, Phila. PA 19111.
