Rhona Katz (née Kamenir) passed away on January 24, 2026. She was the devoted wife of Robert Katz, treasured mother to Dana Katz and Rebekah Katz, grandmother to Liza Katz Capone, and loving sister to Harry Kamenir.
Rhona was known for her warmth, sincerity, and grace. She was a deeply attentive and loving mother and a caring friend whose many friendships meant the world to her. She had a refined sense of style, reflected both in how she dressed and in the home which she opened generously to friends who spent time by the pool in the summers and family who came for holiday dinners.
Rhona embraced lifelong learning. She became an adult Bat Mitzvah at age 37 and remained active in Jewish causes. She was generous in spirit with both people and animals and will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In recognition of the illness that marked the final chapter of her life and her father’s, please consider supporting the Johns Hopkins E4 Project, which focuses on familial Alzheimer’s disease. This specific research is urgent, and important, and it is close to reaching a modest funding goal. Contributions of any size can make a real difference. https://secure.jhu.edu/form/E4project
