RETA

89, died at her home in Narberth PA, after a battle with ovarian cancer, on October 6, 2018. Mrs. Eisenberg, a native of Philadelphia was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Silvers. She grew up in West Philadelphia with her brothers Edward (Niki) and Donald (Brigitta) Silvers. She attended and graduated from West Philadelphia High School and then Temple University. She married Martin Eisenberg and they lived in Mt. Airy, Havertown and Bala-Cynwyd where they raised their four boys. She went on to receive her Masters in Education from Villanova University and worked as a guidance counselor at Northeast, Roxborough, and Germantown High Schools. Following the 1979 stroke and 1987 death of her husband, she devoted her energies in part to founding the Aphasia Center at Moss Rehabilitation Hospital where the Reta Eisenberg Activity Center and Reta's Games Group has been supported and endowed by her sons. Mrs. Eisenberg was not only one of the founders of the Moss Rehab Aphasia Center but also on its Advisory Board. She volunteered at the Barnes Foundation, The Physick House, and was a docent at the PA Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA).
In 1996 she met and formed a life long relationship with Howard Isaacson, M.D. of Wynnewood. They were avid tennis and bridge players and travelled the world together. She was a great cook and dedicated her life to her family and friends. She was particularly proud of the trips she took with her grand-children, each one on their own, but was ultimately disappointed that she was unable (due to her failing health) to take Micah, her youngest grandson, on a tour of Washington, D.C. which she had done with all the others. She is survived by her 4 sons; Stewart Eisenberg of Philadelphia and his wife Sally, Richard Eisenberg of Phila-delphia, Fredric Eisenberg and his wife Leslie Goehl of Narberth, and Matthew Eisenberg and his wife Hillary Homzie of Napa, California. She was the loving grand-mother of Michael (Katie), Rachael, Rebecca, Sarah, Max, Ben, Stella, Jonah, Ari, and Micah, and her great grand-child, Andrew. Friends and relatives are invited to Funeral Services on Wednesday October 10, 2018 at 1 P.M. at Congregation Rodeph Shalom, 615 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA and Interment at Roosevelt Memorial Park, 2701 Old Lincoln Highway, Trevose, PA 19053. Contributions in her memory can be made to Moss Rehab Aphasia Center, 60 Township Line Rd., Elkins Park, PA 19027.
