Renee Flager

Renee Flager, 94, formerly of Levittown, PA, passed away peacefully on November 1st, at Oxford Crossings, where she has lived since 2017. Born in the Bronx, to Esther and Jacob “Jack” Altman (z”l), Renee grew up with her parents and her adoring brother, Sidney Altman (z”l). After moving to New Orleans as a child, she returned to New York in her adolescents.

 

She married the love of her life, Andrew “Andy” Flager (z”l) in 1950. Renee and Andy were happily married for 67 years. The couple moved to Levittown, PA, where they raised Randy and Debbie. Renee and Andy helped grow and sustain Congregation Beth El, where Renee was an active member of the Sisterhood, was a Woman of the Year and ran the synagogue library. The couple was committed to growing and nourishing the Jewish community in Lower Bucks County.

 

Renee was an avid reader. She was thrilled when Bucks County Community College opened as she did not attend college after High School. After obtaining her Associate’s degree, she finished her Bachelor’s degree at Trenton State. Renee became a Librarian, making a career out of her love of reading, learning and books.

 

Most importantly, she was devoted to her family. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.

 

Renee is survived by her children: Randy (Sherry) Flager and Debbie (Steve) Lipschutz; nephew, Harvey Altman; grandchildren, Jason (Jodi) Flager, Melissa (Conrad) Hough, Adam (Mallory) Flager, Bonny (Nate) Spence, Dara (James) Rahill and William Lipschutz; great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Leah, Adele, Riley, Ayla, Natalie, Zev & Noa; step-grandchildren, Remi Freeman and Marni (Bill) Stahl; and step-great-grandchildren, Jace, Ari and Brooke.

 

Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral services at Congregation Beth El, 375 Stony Hill Road, Yardley, PA on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 11:30AM. Burial to follow immediately after at King David Memorial Park. Shiva will be observed at the home of Sherry & Randy Flager. Donations in Renee’s memory can be made to Congregation Beth El.
