Regina Sophia Kaplan Kohl was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great- Grandmother and Friend. She passed on October 28, 2024. Regina was born in March 23,1924 in Philadelphia. She graduated from Olney High School class of 1942 and attended the Pennsylvania School of Nursing during the day. After school, Regina worked the 4pm until midnight shift as a riveter on wing flaps at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. Regina was also a volunteer air raid warden in her neighborhood during World War II and a volunteer hostess at the Stage Door Canteen for the USP in Philadelphia. Volunteering came naturally for her and she never stopped contributing her time to help others. In 1946, Regina married Raymond Kohl. They had two daughters, Ielyne and Susan. Jean volunteered as a Brownie and Girl Scout Troop Leader, PTA President and Sunday School Teacher at the Synagogue. Although Philadelphians, Jean’s love and involvement in Atlantic City began when she was a child. Her family vacationed in Atlantic City every summer. With their two daughters, the family tradition of spending summers in Atlantic City continued. Jean moved to Atlantic City permanently in 1997. She volunteered nearly every day. From 1984-2000 Jean was a volunteer member of the Miss America Pageant Parent Committee. Jean also volunteered for Children’s Seashore House and numerous other organizations in Atlantic City including Katz JCC, NJ Shore Arts Association, MAPS Foundation, Schultz-Hill Foundation and Gilda’s Club of S. Jersey. She was also a volunteer Family Mediator for Atlantic County. An avid theater lover, with a few acting credits of her own, Jean traveled to Philadelphia to be a volunteer Usher at the Walnut and Arden Street Theaters. Jean was very proud to have been able to volunteer for the Worldwide Israel Army SAR-EL program at least three times. She lived on the base and relieved soldiers of some of their duties. Jean was inducted into the Atlantic County Women’s Hall of Fame in 2000 for her years of volunteering. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond Kohl and her loving daughter Ielyne Michelle Kohl DeDomenico. Jean is survived by her loving daughter Susan Kohl and her son-in-law Daniel Osterweil. Her devoted granddaughters Orange-Grey Kohl Girtz and her husband Eial Girtz and Réyne G. Kohl DeDomenico and her husband Shawn Armusewicz and her cherished great grandchildren Ethan, Indigo, Isabella and River. Jean celebrated her 100th birthday on March 23,2024 surrounded by family and friends. She will be remembered for her love for her family and friends and her commitment to helping others. Family and friends are invited to Funeral Services on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, 2:00 pm, at Roosevelt Memorial Park Mausoleum.
