Phyllis received her BS in Education from Temple University in 1953, where she met her husband Martin Cohen. They were happily married for 72 years. Phyllis had a deep love of teaching. She taught for the School District of Philadelphia from 1953 until her retirement in 1988. She then taught English as a second language at community centers in the Philadelphia area. Her students were devoted to her, and she kept many of them as friends until her death. She also had an intense love of learning. She earned a Master of Science from Antioch College and took other advanced studies at Temple University. Over years of extensive travel, she and Martin also learned about people and cultures around the world.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (Click here), in Honor of Phyllis Chase Cohen, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
