Philip "Poppy" DeLeon, 82, of Plymouth Meeting, PA, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025. Born on January 12, 1943 in Feltonville, PA, he was a devoted husband to Marilyn and a loving father to Jeff (Debbie), Ken (Suzana), incredible stepfather to Paula (John), Amy (Don), Shari (Rob) and treasured grandfather to Aydin, Maya, Izzy, Eamon, Rowan and Gabriel. Phil was quiet, gentle, silly and serious. He worked full time until he was 77 in two successful careers: first, as an industrial engineer and later as a financial advisor. He enjoyed the simple moments in life–coaching his sons’ little league teams, taking care of his lawn and clipping coupons. He had a wonderful sense of humor and great taste in music. His love and admiration for Bruce Springsteen resulted in endless concerts and he watched or listened to almost every Penn State football game for 60 years. More than anything, he was the greatest fan and cheerleader of his wife, his kids and grandkids. Phil was generous, thoughtful and had a smile that could light up a stadium.
He is survived by his family and friends who will miss him dearly. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday, January 23rd at GOLDSTEINS’ ROSENBERG’S FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 310 Second Street Pike, Southampton, PA with burial immediately following at Montefiore Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Phil requested that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, a cause close to his heart.
