November 10, 1923 – May 4, 2025

Philip Cohn passed away peacefully at home on May 4, 2025, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the age of 101. Born in Vineland, New Jersey, on November 10, 1923, to Sam and Lillian Cohn, Philip led a life defined by love, service, creativity, and deep appreciation for the world around him. He was the youngest of five brothers—Sidney, Joseph, Albert, and Bernie—each of whom helped shape the strong family values that Philip carried throughout his life. A proud World War II veteran, Philip enlisted immediately after high school and served his country with honor. Following his service, he pursued his passion for art, studying at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and graduating in 1950. He later continued his studies at the esteemed Barnes Foundation, immersing himself in a life of artistic growth and inspiration. Philip often described himself as “the luckiest man alive,” and he truly lived as such—surrounded by the love of family, devoted to his art, and enriched by his travels, especially to Italy, a country that held a special place in his heart. He also found quiet companionship and joy in the presence of his beloved cat, Minette, who was a faithful part of his later years.

He is survived by his loving family: niece Marlene Kalick, who was an integral part of his life and cared for him and his late wife Colette in their later years; niece Sharon Soltzberg (Len); nephew Lee Cohn; nephew Steve Cohn (Rhonda); nephew Spencer Cohn (Lisa); and his cherished stepchildren John, Patricia, and Charles; He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Colette, his nephew Robert Cohn and niece Fridelle Peterson.
