
DENITZ
PETER JONATHAN
Age 63, Urban Planner. On September 30, 2017. Beloved Peter Jonathan Denitz lost his valiant battle with glioblastoma. Born in Allentown, PA March 11, 1954, Peter received his BA from Fordham University in 1976, Master's in Urban Planning from Princeton University in 1978, followed by positions as Regional and Community Planner in Bucks County and NYC. In 1984, Peter became Chief of Community Planning for the City of Philadelphia, leading the North Philadelphia Plan. Peter then joined WSP, where he led the Hudson Bergen Light Rail project, integrating transit and public art. Most recently, as VP of WSP, Peter oversaw Philadel-phia's 30th Street Station District Plan. Peter left an indelible mark on his professional and personal communities.
An avid runner, reader, navigator, and active parti-cipant in community and civic life, Peter served on the Boards of the Creekside Co-op, in Elkins Park, and Montgomery County Transportation Authority. Peter is survived by his wife of 34 years, Beth Wasserman Denitz, daughter and son-in-law, Hannah and Alex, son Samuel, parents Eugene and Eileen, sister and brother-in-law Jane and Peter, in-laws Toby and Burton, sister-in-law Jane and brother-in-law Mark, and loving family and friends.
