LEVIN, DR. NORTON M., 89 - of Philadelphia, PA,- after complications due to a fall passed away peacefully on January 5, 2009, with his loving wife, Patricia by his side. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was a graduate of Temple University and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was a resident intern at Metropolitan Hospital where he later became Director of the Department of Laboratories until his retirement in 1984. After retiring, he moved into the South Jersey area to be closer to his children and grandchildren, living in Brigantine and Galloway, N.J. until last year, at which time he moved to Sparks, Nevada. He was a life member of the Lambda Omicron Gamma National Medical Fraternity, the American Osteopathic Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Medical Association and the American College of Osteopathic Pathologists. Norton served in the US Army from 1942 - 1946 as 1st Lt. Medical Administrative Corps, First Platoon 471 Ambulance Co. E.T.O., receiving a letter of recognition from the French Secretary of State for Veterans Affairs, for his participation in the battles leading to the Liberation of France during World War II. Beloved husband of the late Ethel Levin (Koneffsky) and father of the late Paula Rochelle Levin. Norton is survived by his wife, Patricia Levin (Kroll), one son, Mitchell and his wife Barbara (Maxwell), their four children, Allison, Rachel, Mitchell and Katelyn, all of Egg Harbor Township, one daughter, Charlene Shockey (Levin) and her husband Willard, their three children, Jessica, Kristen, and Melissa, all of Egg Harbor Township, one brother, Lloyd Levin of Reading PA and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to funeral services Friday, 11AM at Goldsteins' Rosenberg's Raphael Sacks 6410 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA Interment Mt. Jacob Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice or Department of Veterans Affairs, General Post Fund, Patient Welfare Account at the Walter Reed or Reno VA Hospital.
