Nicholas G. Hirsch

Nicholas G. “Papa Nick” Hirsch passed away peacefully on May 17, 2024. Father of the late Nicholas D. Hirsch (Stephanie). Grandfather of Nicholas W. Hirsch-Bennett, Tucker L. Johnson, and Cy B. Honeycutt. Treasured friend of Cathy Widmer. Also remembered by many loving friends and family.  

Nick was born in Philadelphia to Harrold M. and Molly G. Hirsch and lived in many states across the country in his lifetime. Although he loved his travels abroad and had family in a few states, he always called Philly home and was happy to move back and spend his final years in the City of Brotherly Love. 
Nick was a graduate of Central High School and Miami University Ohio before joining the Navy and serving on the USS Paul Revere (1968-1972) .  After his time in the Navy, Nick met and married Mary Catherine Widmer.  

Nick had many careers in his life, but his favorite were the years spent with Good Humor Ice Cream.  His careers often lead to new experiences, opportunities to learn and employ new technologies such as creating his own computer programs, and he even managed to get in the newspaper for thwarting a hold up when he was driving a cab. He was an excellent salesman, avid cyclist, and world traveler.  Above all else, Nick loved his family and friends.  He brought happiness to everyone he met and always strived to "be the reason that someone smiles today."  

A celebration of his life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Death With Dignity, www.deathwithdignity.org.
