Nelson Cohen

Nelson Cohen, 84 years old, of Yardley, Pennsylvania sadly passed away Monday December 18^th, 2023.

Son to the late Raymond Cohen and Elizabeth (Nee Belinsky) Cohen, loving husband and best friend to Roberta (Nee Greenberg) Cohen, brother to Gerald Cohen (Norma) and Jack Cohen (Kim), father of Jill Margolis, Jenniffer Miller and Jack (Alexis) Cohen and loving grandfather to Lindsey, Chelsea, Renee, Emily, Jacob and Livia.

After graduating high school, Nelson joined the Army and then went on to attend Temple University where he studied Communications.

He was a pioneer in broadcast journalism as he rose from copy boy to Vice President and General Manager of KYW News Radio in Philadelphia. He also worked in TV News Broadcasting and Sports Radio and was past President of the Sports Writers Association.  As a reporter, he always got the story. He had several careers after retirement including winners circle photographer for Philadelphia Park Racetrack.

Nelson, better known to everyone as Big Nelse, was a loving husband, an amazing father, a wonderful grandfather, a true friend and so much more. Nothing was more important to him than his family.

Big Nelse had many hobbies and interests. He was an avid reader, loved photography and English mysteries and was a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed the horse races and at one time owned a thoroughbred racehorse.

People were drawn to his magnetic personality and terrific sense of humor. He was a great listener. He was a familiar and popular face in the community, capturing friendships at each stop. He has impacted so many lives personally and professionally, leaving positive and lasting impressions on everyone he touched. He will be missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Graveside Service, Sunday December 24, 2023 at precisely 11:00 AM at Shalom Memorial Park, 3573 Pine Road, Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania 19006. Interment to immediately follow.

Shiva will be observed at his home located at 1441 Woodview Drive, Yardley, PA, 19067 directly following the service on Sunday December 24th and Monday through Wednesday the 27^th of December, after 1PM.
