Nancy Bohorad-Leff

When you think about our mom, three words come to mind: crazy, creative & curly hair. Well, that’s four words, which just goes to show why she was the mathematician & we were not. But we write this in loving memory of her, Nancy Bohorad-Leff, whom we lost on March 31, 2024. 

The way most knew Nancy was for always having a positive outlook & a vibrant smile on her face, and for her kind & generous spirit. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Nancy grew up in Pottsville, PA with her beloved parents, Samuel Bohorad & Helen Pincus, and made her way back to Philly to attend Temple Univ., earning degrees in Elementary Education & Mathematics. She went on to get married & settle down in Huntingdon Valley, PA, focusing on raising her three children. Besides her love for teaching & math, Nancy was also incredibly creative—as kids, while our friends were having pizza parties at Chuck E. Cheese, she was busy throwing us arts & crafts fests at home. Such an unusual combo was one of the many things that made her so unique. Looking back now, the things that we thought were so ‘weird’ have become some of our most cherished childhood memories.

If Nancy were here, she’d say her greatest accomplishment was her family—as loving mother of Andrew Leff, Heather Leff & the late Peter Leff, and grandmother of Ava Leff. We take great solace in knowing she’s surrounded by the people she missed so dearly, enjoying their company once again. (Surely, you’re already fighting with Peter about dinner…just hoping there’s plenty of duck sauce waiting for you.) 

Services & interment will be private. To honor & remember Nancy’s life, family & friends are invited to join Heather & Andrew on Sunday, April 14, starting at 1pm, for a gathering at Heather’s residence (reach out to Andrew for location details). Contributions in Nancy’s memory may be made to The National Scoliosis Foundation at scoliosis.org.  

And though she may be gone from our sight, she will never be absent from our hearts. We’ll miss you, Mom.
