IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Murray
Seidelman
December 24, 1931 – March 24, 2026
Murray "Skip" Jay Seidelman, 94, passed away near his home in Wallingford, PA on the morning of Tuesday, March 24th.
Born in Philadelphia to parents Harry and Bella in 1931, Murray grew up as one of 4. Murray was a graduate of Overbrook High School, and he graduated in the top 10 of his class at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, after which he pursued a career as a pharmacist until he retired in 2014.
Murray married Ruth in July of 1955, after which he was drafted and deployed to Korea in support of the Korean War, where he proudly served our country as a pharmacist. Upon his return from Korea, Murray and Ruth started their family and lovingly raised three daughters and many beloved dogs in their new home in Wallingford, Pennsylvania, where they spent the majority of their 68 years of marriage. In 1958, Skip bought Rea’s Pharmacy in Chester, Pennsylvania, where he worked tirelessly to serve the local community until a fire took the building in 1996. Not quite ready to retire, Skip spent years working at Burman’s pharmacy.
Murray was affectionately known as “Doc” to his pharmacy clients, often accepting labor or home-grown goods in exchange for his services. There were many nights when gifted produce graced the dinner table, or labor was done around the house by those who otherwise could not afford pharmaceuticals.
Murray enjoyed watching sports, to include football and boxing, loved fixing things around the house, and delighted in doing yard work on nice, sunny days. A person was hard pressed to beat him in a game of Scrabble, which he loved playing with grandchildren as they got old enough to play with him. Murray loved shopping and got a thrill out of finding a deal on new sneakers- the more outlandish the color, the better.
Murray was a beloved grandfather and great-grandfather, affectionately known as “Pop pop,” who best showed his love through the biggest cheek kisses a person could imagine. He loved teaching the children in his life Yiddish phrases, reducing everyone to tears of laughter when using them to play “whisper down the lane” around the dinner table. Murray was a trusting, loving, ethical man who believed in the best in everyone and never held a grudge. He believed firmly in forgiveness and was always the first to lend a helping hand when it was needed. Murray’s favorite party trick as a young man was ripping a telephone book in half, something his grandchildren were the last to witness (his great-grandchildren don’t know what a telephone book is).
He is predeceased in death by his wife, Ricky, and his siblings Michael, Phyllis, and Dennis, and is survived by his three daughters Sherri, Karen, and Penny (Mark), his 7 grandchildren Naama (Matthew), Yigal (Ruthie), Noa (Jon), David, Sarah (Daniel), Abigail, and Aharon, and his 7 great grandchildren Yael, Dalia, Eliana, Regan, Asher, Orli, and Zayn.
Murray will be buried at Haym Salomon Memorial Park in a private burial, with shivah to follow.
Donations in his memory can be made to Main Line Reform Temple, www.mlrt.org , or the Jewish National Fund, www.jnf.org or Meals on Wheels of Delaware County, www.mowdelco.org
May his memory be for a blessing.
