Muriel was born in South Philadelphia on June 29, 1926. Her parents were Eastern European immigrants. Her father, Max, had a barber shop in South Philadelphia. Muriel graduated from South Philadelphia High School for Girls in 1943. Upon graduation, she worked as a librarian at the main branch of the Philadelphia Library, a job she loved. In 1945, she married Jerry Snyder, who was an enlisted musician. During their first year of marriage, Muriel went on the road with Jerry. They were married for seventy years. She raised four children: Renee, Craig, Jilisa, and Michael. She has 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Fondly known as Gabby to many, family was always her great love and priority. Muriel enjoyed reading and took adult education classes when she was a young mother. She cooked delicious classic Eastern European food for her family and is best known for her homemade borscht and Jewish apple cake. Muriel passed away peacefully on June 22nd, just one week shy of her 100th birthday. A private service is being held for the family. Donations in her honor may be made to Paul's Run Retirement Community. https://paulsrun.org/giving/
