MORTON LEWIS (09/16/1930-5/23/2026)
“Mort”, as he preferred to be called, was born and raised in South Philadelphia, and he worked in the wallpaper and paint business since the age of 19. He later became an ‘on the road’ salesman for the company, which was called Atlas Wallpaper and Paint, at the time, particularly from the Cherry Hill location until his retirement. Mort's "other" job was delivering and setting up the delicious and beautifully decorated cakes that Harriet made for weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, birthdays plus many other festive occasions.
Morton Lewis and Harriet Shapiro were married on November 1, 1952 and spent 73 1/2 years together working as one complete circle battling life's many challenges.
Morton was also a long-time member of the Pennsylvania Masons.
He was a member at Congregation Adath Zion when he lived in the Rhawnhurst neighborhood of Philadelphia and attended services there.
Mort and Harriet moved to Florida full-time after his retirement and were prominent members in the Rainberry Bay community of Delray Beach, where Mort also volunteered with the Delray Police Department as a Parking Enforcement Officer for many years, a position he enjoyed very much. In addition to this Mort spent many years volunteering in Rainberry Bays Theater department which gave him great joy(except when things didn't go the way they were planned). He was always able to share a funny story whether it be about family, delivering a cake or many other events in his and Harriet's' life.
Morton, who is pre-deceased by a daughter, Roberta Jean Szpilczak and a son, Frederick Allen Lewis III, was the loving husband of over 73 years to Harriet (nee Shapiro), and the brother of Mrs. Dorothy (Dot) Bricker and brother-in-law to the late Charlie Bricker, and uncle to Jay, Howard (Gail), and Mark (Stacy) Bricker, and to Ronald (Gloria), Barry (Wendy), and Michael (Debbie) Shapiro, and father-in-law to Robert Szpilczak, and brother-in-law to Edythe Shapiro and the late Edward Shapiro.
Relative and friends are invited to Funeral Services on Thursday, May 28, 2026, 11:30am, at Goldsteins' Rosenberg's Funeral Directors Suburban North, 310 Second Street Pike, Southampton, PA 18966.
