Mildred C. Lurie (nee Chickinsky) on March 5, 2024.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my beloved 95 year old mother, Mildred C Lurie. She was an Eishet Chayil, an avid Zionist, and believed that education reigned supreme. She dedicted herself to her family and to her profession as a teacher. She strongly believed in Tikun Olam (repairing the world), which led her to a life of causes and political action that are too numerous to list. In many ways she was a female activist well ahead of her time!
Mildred was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Leonard A. Lurie. She was also predeceased by her brother Irv and her sisters Miriam and Florence. She is survived by her children, Arnold (Patti LePera), Jacques (Gwen), and Brian (Debbie). Mildred adored her grandchildren, Rebecca (Saul Zebovitz), Samuel (Victoria), Marlena (Koby Brandstein), Saul (Rebekah), and Avi. She delighted in her great-grandchildren, Gavriel, Ezra, Sophia and Liam. She is also survived by her niece, Ina Chickinsky, nephew, Alan Chickinsky, and great niece, Lindsay Chickinsky. Mildred was loved by all and will be missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to funeral services on Thursday, March 7, 1:30 PM at Goldsteins' Rosenberg's Raphael Sacks Suburban North, 310 2nd Street Pike, Southampton PA, 18966. The funeral can be viewed here:
