Michael Burstein

Michael Clifford Burstein (1942-2024) 

Michael Clifford Burstein, 82, of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania died peacefully at home on August 9, 2024. He was born in Washington, DC in 1942 to Edward and Ethel (Kaplan) and grew up in Alexandria, Virginia; Decatur and Chicago, Illinois; and Baltimore, Maryland. Michael was prepared at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, graduated with a degree in mathematics from Johns Hopkins University, a Master’s in Statistics from George Washington University, and a Ph.D in Managerial Economics and Decision Sciences from Northwestern University. Michael served as a sergeant in the DC National Guard during the ‘68 civil disturbances and later in the Illinois Army Reserve. Michael was a passionate educator, teaching managerial economics, and industrial engineering among other topics at Dartmouth, the University of Massachusetts, the University of Michigan, Yale and other posts.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Steven, and his second wife, Eileen (Reed). Michael is survived by his wife Michele (Weinstein), son Adam and daughter in law Amanda, daughter Jill Michaels and son in law Dell Perelman, son Daniel Pogach and eight loving grandchildren Sydney and Nora Burstein, Georgia, Sarah, Zev, and Chaya Mina Michaels, and George and Charlotte Pogach.
