Mike Silverman, a devoted family man, cherished community leader, and passionate antique collector, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, at Abington Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 23, 1935, in Philadelphia.
Throughout his life, Mike demonstrated unwavering dedication, resilience, and deep compassion. Beginning in 1990, he faced a series of serious medical challenges, which he met with remarkable strength and perseverance. During this time, he discovered a renewed passion for art and became a painter. He also returned to college, earning a degree with honors in 2002, a testament to his determination and lifelong love of learning.
A proud American, Mike served honorably in the Army Reserves, embodying conviction and integrity. He was known for his protective and steadfast devotion to his family, an old-school sense of responsibility grounded in love and compassion. A patient and caring father, he was a reliable provider whose intelligence, financial prudence, and organizational skills ensured stability and care for those he loved.
Mike’s interests reflected his vibrant personality and commitment to community life. He was an avid attendee of antique shows and served as president of the PAGCA for seven years. He was actively involved in REAP (Retired Executives and Professionals), where he served as both president and officer. He also proudly served his community as a Judge of Elections, reflecting his strong sense of civic duty.
One of the great joys of Mike’s life was his enduring love story. He met his beloved wife, Sylvia Gordon, at a Drexel school dance more than seven decades ago, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love and commitment.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Sylvia; his daughter, Alison Silverman; his son, Eric Silverman and daughter-in-law Patricia; his granddaughter, Emily Saxe (Avery); his grandson, David; and his great-grandson, Tyler Saxe. His guidance, love, and presence enriched the lives of all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 12:00 PM, at Goldsteins' Rosenberg's Funeral Directors, Inc., 6410 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19126. Entombment will follow at Montefiore Cemetery. Rabbi Michael Perice will officiate the services.
Mike Silverman’s life was a tapestry woven with love, resilience, and steadfast commitment. A true protector of his family and a cherished member of his community, his memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know him.
