Obituary

Merle Ruth Gordon (née Rosenberg), born March 30, 1943, passed away on May 5, 2026. She was the beloved wife of Harry; devoted mother of Michelle (Michael) Trachtenberg and Donna (Jim) Volpone; cherished sister of the late Sheila Sadel (Sidney); and loving grandmother of Steven Trachtenberg, Jake Trachtenberg, and Dr. Daniel Volpone. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, and cousins. Merle was truly loved by all who knew her.

She was the daughter of the late Albert and Anna Rosenberg (née Love). Merle grew up in Philadelphia, graduated from Olney High School, and attended Temple University before pursuing her passion in cosmetology. She enjoyed a 26-year career as a hairdresser, spending most of that time at The Beauty Mark, where she formed many lifelong friendships.

Merle met her husband, Harry, on a blind date on December 8, 1961. They shared a loving marriage that would have reached 62 years on May 31.

An avid reader, Merle also enjoyed her daily puzzles, including Wordle and Strands, staying sharp and engaged until the very end. She loved shopping, dining out, and sharing laughter with friends and family. She had a deep love for dogs, and throughout the years, she and Harry shared their home with many beloved companions who brought them great joy.

Merle deeply valued her Jewish traditions, was an exceptional cook, and above all treasured time spent with her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to Graveside Services Friday, May 8, at 1:00 PM precisely at Shalom Memorial Park (Section Elijah), 3573 Pine Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. Shiva will be observed at Centennial Station, 424 Street Road, Warminster, PA 18974 on Friday following services in Building 12 Ballroom and on Saturday at 5:00 PM in Building 3 Basement.
