Melvin Gindin, a dedicated educator, cherished coach, and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. Born on January 2, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Melvin’s life was marked by his unwavering commitment to teaching, mentorship, and community involvement.

A graduate of Overbrook High School, where he showcased his athleticism on the varsity baseball and basketball teams, including winning a city championship in basketball.  Melvin's passion for sports and education continued at St. Joseph’s University, where he played basketball and baseball. These formative years laid the foundation for a lifelong dedication to nurturing young minds and athletes alike.

For 35 years, Melvin taught middle school in the Centennial School District, touching the lives of countless students with his wisdom and compassion. His influence extended beyond the classroom; he coach the high school varsity girls basketball team for 25 years, winning 3 championships, and earning Bucks County Coach of the Year 3 times. His leadership, and encouragement, helped many young women grow as players and confident individuals.

Summers found Melvin embracing another facet of his passion for youth development. He served as Head Counselor at Sesame and Briarwood Day Camps, creating joyful and meaningful experiences leaving lasting impressions on the children who spent their summers under his guidance.

Melvin’s enduring spirit was deeply rooted in the love of his family. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Joy Gindin (née Kress), his son Kenneth, his daughter Amanda (Gindin) Kennedy, and his cherished grandchildren Sophie and Billy (BK).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Sylvia (née Finkel) Gindin, whose legacy he carried forward in kindness, perseverance, and love.

Melvin Gindin’s life was a testament to the profound impact one person can have through dedication to education, community, and family. His legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know him, marking a life beautifully lived and deeply loved.
