Maxwell Pevar, on June 9, 2023, at the age of 99. Devoted husband of the late Shirley Brunstein Pevar. Loving father of Jeffrey Pevar (Diane), Karen Winneg (Ken), and the late Joel Pevar (Jill Schneider). Beloved grandfather of Jennifer O’Brien (Ed), David Pevar (the late beloved Jessica), Sarah Pevar (Devin McGinty), Michael Pevar (Alie), Aliza, Jonathan, and Maya Winneg. Beloved great grandfather of Lena, Sammy, and Hallie O’Brien, and CJ Pevar.
Predeceased by his parents, Morris and Sarah Pevar, brothers Leonard Pevar (Dian), Matthew Pevar (Adele), and sisters Frances Laskin (Raymond) and Marlene Zaslow. Survived by loving brother-in-law, Moti Zaslow.
Maxwell had a remarkably creative and refreshing spirit. A World War II veteran, he served both on the home front and as part of the liberating army in France and Germany. He was a metallurgical engineer and inventor with several patents. He was a loving husband and a spirited harmonica playing father and grandfather. Avid handball player until age 85. A lover of nature, canoeing and fishing. A poet, storyteller, and author of children’s books.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 16th at 11:30 am at Goldsteins’ Rosenberg’s Raphael Sacks Suburban North, 310 Second Street Pike, Southampton, PA 18966. Burial will follow at Montefiore Cemetery, 600 Church Road, Jenkintown, PA. Shiva will follow at the home of Karen and Ken Winneg, and will continue on the evening of Saturday, June 17th, 6 PM, at the home of Jeffrey and Diane Pevar.
