Matthew Pratta, Jr.

Matthew Pratta, Jr., 89, of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026.

Born and raised in the Feltonville section of Philadelphia, Matt attended Clara Barton Elementary School and graduated from Olney High School in January 1954. In April of that year, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served on active duty until June 1957.

After his military service, he attended Penn State University (1957–1961), earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He began his career as a Special Agent (criminal investigator) with the Internal Revenue Service. While working at the IRS, he attended Temple University School of Law and earned his Juris Doctor degree. Following his admission to the Pennsylvania Bar, he practiced with several boutique tax law firms before entering sole practice in 1987. He continued in private practice until his retirement in 2008.

Matt enjoyed playing poker at Parx Casino, working on model railroading projects, and watching his son Mitch play baseball from Little League through college, rarely missing a game.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Pratta (Lee); his son, Mitch; and his brother, Joel (Sue) Lovenstein.

Funeral services will be private.
