It is with deep love and gratitude that we share the passing of Mark T. Hartley, Jr, age 91, a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, proud Marine, and a lifelong self-employed craftsman who could fix anything with WD40 and a crescent wrench.
Born on August 16, 1934 in Atlantic City, NJ, Mark graduated from Holy Spirit High School in 1953.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, with his brother Nelson, an experience that helped define his character: disciplined and loyal.
After his discharge, he returned to the Atlantic City Beach Patrol. It was in the summer of 1959 on Brighton Ave (Stand Up Beach) that he met the love of his life, Carole. They married in 1960 and moved to an apartment in Mayfair, PA where their first son Scott was born. In 1963, they bought their first home in Parkwood and had two more sons, Ross and Sean. Mark built a successful business; Hartley’s TV Antenna Service. They also formed lifelong friendships in Parkwood. In 1977, they moved to Woodlyn Crossings with three of the other families.
Mark loved to garden and go to the beach. They could often be found on Knights Ave in Margate and then later on the beaches in Cape Canaveral Fl while visiting his brother Paul.
Mark and Carole were regulars at the Suburban Diner and formed many close friendships here as well.
He was happily married to Carole for 62 years!
He is survived by his sons; Ross (Cathy) and Sean, grandchildren, brothers Paul and Thomas, and sister-in law Linda.
