Marion "Sandy" Gwirtz

Marion “Sandy” Gwirtz (nee Richman), 96, passed away on October 3, 2023.  She is preceded by her sisters, Selma Nisenfeld (nee Richman) and Blanche Weiner (nee Richman), and the two loves of her life, Earl Hendler and E. Donald Gwirtz.  Marion is survived by her three children Lewis Hendler (Vickie), Robin Prosini, and Cheryl Hendler Cohen (Michael), her grandchildren Andrew Hendler (Tammy), Lindsay White (Jonathan), Nicholas Prosini, Erin Faccenda (Joe), Elyse (Michael), and Adam (Anthony), countless cousins, nephews and nieces, friends, neighbors, and community members. Marion was loved by everyone who knew her.  She exuded grace and celebrated each kindness she witnessed.

Marion was born in January 1927.  During her early years, she learned the virtues of ingenuity, gratitude, and resiliency.  When she met the first great love of her life, Earl, she continued to grow into the guiding presence that we all knew her to be. Together they raised three accomplished, vibrant children, instilling in them the importance of education, family values, and love. Marion’s second marriage to her childhood crush Don, brought her happiness and new adventures.  They were consistently present for grandchildren’s’ recitals and sports games and traveled the world.  Marion knew she’d won the lottery because she had been able to share fulfilling lives with two people who loved her more than words could convey.  

Marion’s hallmark was her humor, and her quick wit was her signature.  She could find the ray of light in every darkness.  Her memory will always be a blessing. Relatives and friends are invited to cryptside services on Sunday October 8^th, 2023 at 10:30 AM precisely at the Montefiore Cemetery (Sarah Maus.) 600 Church Rd., Jenkintown PA 19046. Shiva will be observed on Sunday only at the home of Lewis and Vickie Hendler.
