BOOKMAN – Margaret Michelbacher “Maggie,” 48, of 8704 Carlisle Road, Wyndmoor, Pa., died on Sept. 8, 2008, at University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, following a courageous battle with a rare lymphoma. She was born in Johnstown on Nov. 18, 1959, fifth child of Carl and Aileen (Huth) Michelbacher. She was raised in Vintondale and was a 1977 graduate of Bishop Carroll High School. In 1980, she graduated from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia. She later obtained a BSN from Thomas Jefferson University and a MSN from the University of Pennsylvania, all in Philadelphia. She most recently worked as a nurse practitioner at a primary care center in Southwest Philadelphia. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl, in 1973, and father-in-law, Leon Bookman, in 2001. Survived by husband, Marc, and children, Aubrey, 19; Jocelyn, 16; and Kyle, 9. Also survived by mother, Aileen Michelbacher Ure, Vintondale; brothers, Luke (Helen Kowal) Michelbacher, Nanty Glo; Fred Michelbacher, Vintondale; and Carl (Barbara Basile) Michelbacher, Pittsburgh; sister, Mary Beth Lasinsky (David), Nanty Glo; and brother-in-law, Jeffrey (Barbara) Bookman, and mother-in-law, Ethel Bookman, both of Wynnewood, Pa. She will be sadly missed by her beloved nieces and nephews, Maraya, Anne and Eric Lasinsky; Mariel Michelbacher; Mia and Carlyn Michelbacher; and Jason and Dana Bookman. Margaret will be forever remembered for her devotion to her family and friends, compassion to her patients, her warm and fun-loving nature, and finally her relentless determination to overcome her illness. Funeral service was held on Sept. 10 at Goldstein’s Rosenberg’s Raphael-Sacks Mortuary Chapel, 6410 N. Broad St., Philadelphia, and was attended by hundreds of mourners. The family is very grateful to all those who offered prayers and encouragement, especially during the past few difficult months.
